The problem with LJ/DW: We all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So, I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ/DW and find out what people don't know about you.

Resurrecting this one 'cause I'm bored and can't concentrate on this work shit. Go on, ask me anything. :D

Hmm...how did you get into comic books and stuff in the first place? Inquiring minds need to know! :D (Might steal this...)

Well - two ways.

1) My oldest brother moved to Germany when I was 5, and whenever he'd come home to visit, he'd bring me a new volume of the Asterix and Obelix comics (an old French series about two Gauls who kept the Romans out of their village using a magic potion that gave them super strength). They were pretty much my favorite things ever.

2) My sister Julia used to nanny over the summer for a local family when she was in high school, and the husband/dad had made a fortune by buying and trading old and rare comic books - specifically X-Men. Whenever I'd go to their house with her, he'd let me read a couple of the less special ones. XD Plus, I was really into the cartoon at the time.

I was mainly into anime and manga during high school and college, though. What got me BACK into comics were the Iron Man movies, and it's sort of...devolved since then. XD

Question 1: How many baked goods would we have to sell in our bake sale to wrap a bus with mutants?

Question 2: What does Charles have to promise Erik in order to get him to attend the daycare's spring "play"?

Date: 2011-09-22 08:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] brilligspoons.livejournal.com
1) Oh man, if we're talking a Worcester bus? Okay. If we sell each individual baked good (let's say: individual cupcakes, brownies, and maybe wrap 3 cookies together in some saran wrap?) for a dollar a piece, we'd have to move 1800 units just to cover one month's contract. Production and manufacturing costs plus taxes would be a whole 'nother animal - we'd probably have to move 3,000 individual baked goods, just to be on the safe side.

...maybe less if we make the cupcakes fancy and sell 'em for $2-3 a piece. And I don't even wanna THINK about the cost of wrapping a MBTA bus.

...PLUS GETTING THE RIGHTS TO PLASTER THEIR STUPID FUCKING FACES ACROSS THE BUS, JESUS. I don't know much about copyright, but we'd better get permission before we do this.

...unless we take Doug's approach and go the guerrilla advertising route, in which case we'd sell just enough baked goods to produce the shrink wrap and rent whatever machinery we need to attach it to the bus. And then we dress all in black and sneak into one of the bus garages around 3AM and do our ninja advertising thing. And in this scenario, we DEFINITELY can't sign our names to it.

2) Four consecutive weekends spent only in bed and exploring every single dirty fantasy starring Charles that Erik has ever had. "And believe me, darling," Erik says with a manic little glint in his eyes, "there are a lot of those."

Favorite color: black. Though I do love certain shades of blue (Prussian blue <333) and green as well.

Favorite food: currently mac n' cheese, though other favorites include pasta with red sauce, and pizza. Also tuna-noodles-and-chips, which is something my entire family loves and adores.

Blegh. I prefer my mac n' cheese fake and chemical-infused. Kraft for life, baby!

Whatever is preferred. I enjoy a nice bowl of fake and chemical-infused macaroni myself, but I will go through the hassle of making a nice tray of white American gooey goodness.

I just don't like the taste of homemade mac n' cheese. It's not right to me. *shrug*

As ordered:

1. What is your favorite childhood memory?

2. What was it about Charles that made Erik agree to a date instead of tearing him a new one for breaking his nose?

1) John was home one afternoon during the summer (he was in college at the time), and a sunshower came out of nowhere. Despite Mom screaming at him that we were barefoot and we'd get sick or hurt ourselves, he grabbed me and chased me around the yard until the rain stopped. :D

2) Despite the searing pain in his face and the blood pouring out of his nostrils, Erik can't help but notice immediately that the guy who inadvertantly caused the accident has the most amazing eyes he's ever seen, and, much to Erik's surprise, the guy's genuinely CONCERNED about him. He even ruins his own sweater in an effort to staunch the bleeding - and Erik hasn't met anyone who cared that much since his mom died.

it just ate my question!

1. Who was the first person you met IRL ~*from the internet*~?

2. What is the greatest length Erik has gone to in order to move Charles out of the way when he was blocking the path to the coffee in the morning?

1) Joni, two autumns ago! I had the chance to meet [livejournal.com profile] lilithnaamah, who's my oldest online friend, once back when I was a college freshman and out in Arizona for my cousin's wedding, but the timing ended up not working out for me.

2) Charles is angry with him for one thing or another (Erik can't fucking think, okay, there's no caffeine in his system) and he's actually hiding the coffeemaker in their closet and leaning against the door so Erik has to go through him to get at it. He's saying something about proper communication - which is a bit fucking rich coming from Charles - and it literally takes all of Erik's concentration to locate the bits of metal in Charles' pants and belt. Once he does, though, Charles is across the room and down the hallway and firmly situated on the couch, and he stays there until Erik has retrieved the coffeemaker and brewed himself a pot. By the time Erik has had a cup and poured another, Charles is laughing hysterically and has forgotten the argument entirely because he thinks Erik's sleepy determination to having his caffeine fix is charming and adorable.

Why is your name [livejournal.com profile] brilligspoons?

Is your display name "the happy phantom" a Tori Amos reference or from something else? Assuming it is Tori: what is your favorite Tori song? Album? Hairstyle?

1) "brillig" comes from Jabberwocky (and I don't know if I'm spelling that correctly because my brain is addled right now. EDIT: I WIN AT SPELLING) - Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-glass is my favorite. "Spoons" is a reference to T.S. Eliot's The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock - "have measured out my life in coffee spoons" is how the line goes, I believe. Close enough. #goddamncoldmeds EDIT: I ALSO WIN AT QUOTING POETRY.

2) It is a Tori Amos reference! Favorite song: either Precious Things or Little Earthquakes. Favorite album: Little Earthquakes, but I love Scarlet's Walk and American Doll Posse, too. Favorite hairstyle: no idea. I really only pay attention to her music. :D?

Excellent. I only asked about her hair because I was just watching the live at Montreaux DVD from 1991 and her hair was so crazy curly then and it was awesome. Now she usually straightens it, which I resent, as a curly-headed lady. But also in 1991 her dye job was of inferior quality, so I guess it's a tradeoff.
